This may be my favorite make thusfar. It’s my first Watson Bra Set (with matching panties!!). I’m so happy wit how it turned out.

A few months ago, I ordered two bra and panty kits from Blackbird Fabrics. I had made a “practice Watson” before the kits came and decided it was about time to make use of at least one of the kits. I wanted to make the longline version of the bra this time, so I used the kit I had ordered with the “large findings” — which really just means 3-hook bra clasps instead of 2-hooks.

Overall, the longline is okay, but I like the shorter band better. I noticed when I tried this on that the bottom of the cups aren’t making contact with my body like they did with the shorter band. They just don’t feel as supportive, but I guess it’s not the biggest issue in the world.

I hadn’t made the Watson panty yet, and I had thought about making a practice version before using the kit, but I decided against that for some reason. I wish I hadn’t. My hip sizing is always tricky and I might have been able to go a size down on the panty, or at least been more aggressive with the stretching of the elastic around the butt area. I really, really need to learn the importance of making toiles.

About the kit: WOW. I bought these kits a bit impulsively, and I was worried that it was a bad decision. I was so wrong. The lace is amazing. The jersey is soooo soft. The findings were amazing. The powernet is way more sturdy (but still stretchy) than the stuff I got by itself on etsy. And I didn’t have to do any work to find a bunch of matching pieces. Will definitely buy from Blackbird again. Rumor has it that there will be more bra kits available this summer and I will definitely be looking at buying some more. 🙂

I still have one more kit (pale pink, amethyst, and white) lying around waiting for me. I’m looking forward to making another bra/panty set, though I don’t know if it will be another Watson bra set. Anyone have any recommendations for other bra/panty patterns?
