Hello again friends! It’s been a while, but school is out for the year so it’s sewing time! Today I’m back with a third pair of Ginger Jeans! I’ve had this pair in the plans for quite some time, and I’m so glad I’ve finally gotten to it!
This pair of Ginger Jeans is special because it’s made with great denim! My last pairs have been made with random denims that I found at local fabric stores. This denim is SGENE from Cone Mills, a textile mill based here in the US. I bought 2.5 yards as a remnant from Threadbare Fabrics last year, immediately after finishing my second pair of Ginger Jeans. The denim is supposed to have really great recovery, and as such, should be great for a skinny jean.
When I bought this fabric, I had initially planned to use it for a pair of the high-rise super-skinny Ginger Jeans. I wear the more relaxed fit far more often, so I decided to go that route with this fabric. After all, one of my sewing goals this year is to make things I’ll wear often. One day, I’ll get more of this denim and try out the high-waisted Ginger Jeans, but these will do for now. All the adjustments are the same as last time. I also added about an inch in the length. I’m really happy with them!
I tried to have a little bit of fun with these. I had planned on doing little stars instead of bar tacks, but my sewing machine did not want to cooperate with the thickness of the outside leg seams. So, I went with the stitch that looks like a ladder, which you can kinda see in the collage below.
{shameless plug} For the hardware, I used a button, zipper, and rivets from my jeans hardware kits. I’m now selling them on Etsy if anyone is interested!

I feel like this post is brief, but I’m working on a few more projects that should (hopefully) be blogged soon. I’m looking forward to a summer of sewing (and travel!) 🙂
P.S. If the top I’m wearing looks familiar, it’s cause it’s my Ogden Cami. I want to make a few more of these too.
P.P.S. These jeans WON the Jeans Contest on PatternReview.com!!! Thanks to everyone who voted for me!
You did such a great job! Well done! They look like Ready To Wear jeans! I’m not surprised you won the jeans contest – you deserve it! 😀
