2016 Top 5 Hits

I was in the midst of writing a post about my top hits and misses for the year when I stumbled across Crafting a Rainbow’s Top 5 Post. Over the course of this week, I’ll be sharing my various Top 5 Posts. Today is my Top 5 Hits of 2016! So without further ado, my top 5 hits…

Ginger Jeans (take 2)

I made my first pair of Ginger Jeans in October and then immediately got to planning another pair. I had to get quite a bit of help from Heather to get the fit right on these, but man oh man am I glad I did. They fit me so well, and I’m so, so happy to have a pair of pants that fits my hips and my waist (for reference, my hips fall three sizes bigger than my waist size).

I’m so happy about these that I immediately splurged on some Cone Mills Denim to make a ~fancy pair~… You’ll be hearing about those soon, I’m sure!

Birthday Dress

I made this dress in the hours leading up to my birthday party. I very wisely decided 48 hours before said party that I wanted to make a dress, only I had to go to a TA training and various orientations during the next 2 days so I had very minimal sewing time (I’m talking like just a few hours). It was a success, though I only wore it that one night. I don’t have a lot of LBD situations, but I have this dress for the next one. One of these days, I’ll get around to taking proper pictures and blogging it!

Cross-back dress

This was one of those patterns that I saw and immediately envisioned as something else, and I’m so glad I made this happen! I made it during the cold of winter, but escaped to sunny Arizona to try it out.

Lace Pencil Skirt

I whipped this one up kinda on a whim in a couple of evenings and love it. I’ve already worn it for some business-causal school events and plan on wearing it to more. I’ve been needing a lot more professional wear lately, so this won’t be the only skirt from this pattern.

Anna Maxi Dress

I made this dress over the summer and loved it immediately. The fabric is lovely; it was first time I worked with rayon challis. I’ve worn it a few times, but I think there are a couple of adjustments I should make for future Annas – if there are any more.
